I found this SSD repair video fascinating. I don't know why but I always felt common wisdom was that when an SSD is dead, it's dead, typically a problem with the flash memory itself, which is unrepairable. This video enlightened me a bit. @popey SMD work (and especially rework) looks and feels brutal, but the packages have been designed to stand upto it. It surprising how many failures are related to power failures and simple passive components. Gamers Nexus's latest video on EVGA has some excellent SMD rework insanity in it.
