Screw it. I'll alter my EE plan to spread the cost of the phone over 2 years (13 mini green 128Gb).

Image shows EE's data plans and how much they would cost over time to what facilities they offer.

My current usage averages at just shy of 5Gb, so I need more to allow for busier months.

I don't like the idea of being speed restricted, so I'd need to have an unrestricted plan (999 used for unrestricted/unlimited for the sake of column ordering).

Best option is highlighted, I think?

Scrap that!

I can get things cheaper by going direct to Apple and spreading the cost of a new phone over 24 months, and have a cheaper sim only contract on Smarty (thanks @TheGingerDog ) for less than any EE offering.

Down side is that I would be leaving EE for Three. This means no IPv6, and worse coverage.

@bigcalm yeah I was concerned about reception but the three network has been fine (not sure if it's any worse or better than EE in the real world).

Swmbo is still on EE so I guess we've got some redundancy for the time being.

@TheGingerDog I’ve made the move away from EE, and now with ID Mobile (Three carrier). I’m getting a better speed at home than on EE.
Ta for the mention of swmbo, I’ll have a look at them for backup.

@bigcalm Three is better than EE these days at my folk place. But Three in London these days is awful. I now run dual sim, to hop between Three and EE. Was with Three for years and the coverage was always better than I expected. In London they struggle with a lack of spectrum. If th3 merger with Vodashite goes through, at least Three should have access to better 4g spectrum. Three also invested smart in getting a lot of high speed 5g spectrum.

@intrbiz I look forward to seeing some of that 5g sound here, someday…

@bigcalm TBH, don't expect Three 5G where you are, it doesn't make sense given the spectrum they have. Three have a lot of spectrum aimed at high bandwidth, small cell size. EE have a lot of low bandwidth, large cell size. Hope for good 4G where you are and good 5G when you travel.
