Beatties Wolverhampton

Such a shame; when I first moved to the Midlands, this place had proper doormen, sometimes in top hats and tails. It was kind of like Harrods, although not as upmarket. It's all closed down now, and apparently, the owners are in talks with the council to turn it into flats with just a few shops.

The building is vast and even has a below-street-level footprint.

@dick_turpin I have such fond memories of the place as a kid looking at all the lego.

It went down hill as soon as it was sold off.

It's a crying shame such a prime location is just sat in the situation it is in.

Part of me things government needs to do more about building just staying derelict.

@intrbiz I remember the men's section upstairs had a proper gents outfitters. Probably a bit too posh for Wolverhampton. 🤣

The saddest thing is Christmas; they used to deck out all the lower windows in Crimble scenes. It reminded me of all those old classic movies like Miracle on 34th street.
