One thing that came up during the #PostgreSQL hacking tutorial - for new devs it may be fairly difficult to find the first topic to work on. Having a practical issue to solve is a great option, but what if you don't have that? I sometimes run into ideas for (possibly) simple patches, suitable for learning how to contribute and the workflow, and ideas how one might search for interesting stuff to work on.

I wonder what's the right place to share that. Any suggestions?

@intrbiz Good idea. My concern is it's limited to people who are already part of the dev community, but certainly worth a try.

Perhaps there are ways to reach a wider audience? I'm thinking about posting random ideas here with a hashtag or something like that.

@tomasv yeh, I was also thinking to say a short blog post or message. I'd certainly be interested to hear some of the little bits which could be starting points.

A hashtag to link them would be smart.

Was going to say the wiki, but I doubt that actually gets looked at.

@intrbiz Yeah, I think a blog that goes to planet.postgresql.org might work. I might even give some guidance on how to approach the coding. I'll think about that.
