At #BrumPHP (who are inexplicably not on mastodon) where there is an absolute surfeit of drinks and food in the rather lovely Joint Works (also inexplicably not on mastodon), where our lead-off talk is Ciaran McNulty (inexplicably etc) talking about docker and similar topics

Huh. No “-i /bin/bash” here. I am learning docker skills. “docker container run --interactive --tty ubuntu”.

Also big love to Ciaran for using long options, which is how all documentation should work. Never ever use short options when documenting anything.

#BrumPHP

wtf? If I make a docker container which does a thing with RUN and then does a second thing with RUN, you’ll get a layer for each command. And the command result is cached based on the text of the command.

Did not know this. Cheers, Ciaran. #BrumPHP

@sil I wonder how much the DSL helps vs hinders clarity. For people who are already familiar with shell scripting, which presumably most container builders will be, Buildah feels more direct to me. developers.redhat.com/blog/202
