When I sit down to code, I’ve usually got the solution in my head so I can code it very quickly, sometimes because I’ve already been thinking about it for a week while doing other stuff. I don’t spend a lot of time coding (at work or at home), but when I do it’s highly efficient!

I find it hard to think about certain kinds of problems while physically at a computer. The solutions usually come while I’m doing something else. Going for a walk or sitting down with a notebook and pen seems the best

This is one of the reasons I find “live coding” interviews so weird. That’s just… not how I code at all. Not to mention having to “think out loud”, ugh.

Like, give me 30 minutes to think about it in silence and I’ll code it in 2 minutes.

@mike IMHO verbal reasoners seem to find it very hard to understand visual reasoners.

And those kind of interviews are the result. Same with pair programming interviews. Hateful ways to hire a mono-culture.
