𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: "That's the thing. I don't want to save to the server; I want to save locally but be able to work on either the Laptop when I'm at home or the PC at work."
𝗠𝗲: "The only way to do that is to have a synced folder like Dropbox, but then you may as well save to your file server."
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: "But as I said, I don't want to do that!"

Did you offer to sell them a hammer, for use against one of the devices, problem solved...
@dick_turpin yeh, it's rather lazy and obstinate.
@intrbiz I've emailed him to decommission his PC, but that's risky because the laptop could be stolen, lost, or suffer a catastrophic failure.
TBH, Chris, I see this as taking laziness and stupidity to a whole new level.
