ok, have now been using #kubuntu for a day, so I have run into a few little things which are annoying. Probably aren't bug reports per se, although if you lot tell me that they ought to be, I'll file them. But mostly, this is where you explain what I'm doing wrong and how to do it better, or perhaps attempt to futilely instruct me that I am wrong to expect these to work :)

annoying #kubuntu thing number 1: I have a spinning rust disk which appears at /media/(me)/(long-meaningless-uuid) and there is an image on that disk. I have set that image as my desktop background image. But... it goes away on reboot, presumably because the drive doesn't get mounted until after the OS wants to find its background image. This is... daft. How do I fix it? (Note: "move it to the main disk" is a coward's solution :-))

am getting dog's abuse here for putting stuff my machine needs on random external disks, which is I suppose not a wholly unreasonable point

anyway, I know *how* to fix this disk thing (put the image on my actual disk, and/or edit /etc/fstab like a caveman), I'm just disappointed that #kde doesn't make this a nicer and easier experience for me (since "mount disks" and "load desktop background image" both happen at login, it'd be nice if "mount disks" happened first so I can have my desktop background *on* a mounted disk).
The bluetooth question, though, I do not know how to fix, and it's very annoying.

@sil Mounting disks could take quite a while. Would you wait until that completes before painting the screen?

Mounting the disks could happen quickly. Would you set a placeholder background and then flickerly change it immediately?

Sounds complicated.

@mavit that's fair comment, I suppose! If that's the case then I suspect I should have been prevented from setting that image, perhaps, if policy is "it is always bad to do this"?
