It's because Larry Ellison is a genius. I know he is a genius because of what happened last time I visited the old Sun Labs building.

I walked through a floor of empty offices. The entire team working on a new product had a just had a quarterly status meeting and Ellison had said 'there's no market for this product' and fired them all.

The product? An accelerator that was really fast at multiplying matrixes.

The date? Late 2019.

In 2019, he identified that there was no market for a cloud provider to offer a service that can do matrix multiplication quickly.

Truly a visionary.
