🎙️ New #TalkingPostgres #podcast Ep32 just published!
Boriss Mejías @tchorix of EDB explored the Fundamental Interconnectedness of All Things as a methodology for working with Postgres—& we connected lots of things, from WAL files to jazz to database modeling to synchronous replication and OpenAI
Boriss is a fabulous human & it was such a happy thing that he joined me on this podcast episode! I am happy with the conversation & I hope y'all are too!

I had a lot of fun talking to you Claire. Thanks for the invitation. I also wrote something about what inspired this topic https://dev.to/bmejias/how-i-learned-to-embrace-my-chaotic-brain-4m3e
I hope the episode is useful to #PostgreSQL folks and anyone actually.

+ btw this is how they’re talking in DHH’s official Omarchy discord.
They fully know what it’s all about. There’s no ambiguity here.

@bigcalm similar reason to why I have an iPhone buried somewhere.
When it comes to testing the containers, it should mostly be about pulling / building an AArch64 image too.
But there are ways to run things under X86 emulation, which you probably want to avoid.
@bigcalm you accidentally put your Linux PC into an Apple box?
@tdp_org I think the approach in most other SQL databases and better aligning to the standard, would be for that to be part of the predicate.
IE: select ... from dataset where service = x and ...
And partitioning taking care of where the data actually lives.
To me 'dataset.*' feels odd, since querying all tables in a schema makes no sense to me.

@etchedpixels @neil I always saw the success of Arduino as being building an ecosystem with low barrier to entry via free tooling and sdks, not the hardware.
I bet many ESPs and PIs are programmed via Arduino cores.
So it feels like Arduino as an ecosystem can survive, regardless of who might make some boards or publish the IDE.
I don't like the phrase "Technical Debt". It's effectively lost all meaning.
I always need to ask, "what about it is technical debt?"
I've gotten a variety of responses:
- the abstractions are wrong
- the performance is bad
- the technology is out of date
- it's undocumented
- I don't know the tech
That last one in particular when someone told me, "It's technical debt because I don't know the tech," is when I knew the phrase had lost all meaning.
📅 Mark your calendars!
POSETTE 2026 is coming June 16–18!
POSETTE: An Event for Postgres is a virtual celebration of PostgreSQL with dozens of talks plus lots of learning and community connection.
Those of you who are software engineers (not software engineering managers) and have daily standups: who wants those?
A — I do.
B — I don't, but the majority of my team does.
C — Nobody in our team does, but our manager wants them.
D — Nobody wants them, not even our manager, but we must have them per organisational policy.
(Boosts for reach much appreciated.)
@alex LTT had a recent video kind of on that topic. The AI cards don't game as well as normal ones. Nor did they render Blender as well. Seem more tuned to specific CUDA workloads.
